I’m reluctant to even call this a recipe as there’s really nothing to it – let’s just call it a DIY muesli. I love making my own as it tends to be a lot cheaper, healthier and more interesting. And it also looks pretty when you put things in cool jars.
Buy your ingredients in bulk! We’ve all been there, but you do not want to be paying $6 at the supermarket for a teeny tiny 100g packet of almonds. I shopped at a local favourite of mine – The Source Bulk Foods, and ended up paying about $9 for all the ingredients listed below. When I make my muesli, I prefer to stick with seeds and nuts as my main ingredients, with a little bit of dried fruit for sweetness. Interesting fact – buckwheat has nothing to do with wheat and it’s not even a grain, it is in fact a seed!

3 cups puffed buckwheat
1 cup raw almonds
½ cup pepitas
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup coconut flakes
½ cup dried figs
½ cup currants
Roughly chop almonds and dried figs.
Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container.
Serving size is ½ cup. Makes approx. 13 servings.
