New Orleans Travel Diary

New Orleans New Orleans Cafe du Monde beignets New Orleans New Orleans New Orleans School of Cooking

New Orleans was another incredible city that I definitely want to visit again. Looking back through my photos, I was surprised to find that I didn’t take many here. I can only attribute that to having far too much fun here to stop and take my camera out.

The highlights of my time in New Orleans were simply wandering around the streets and admiring the way this city looks, and most importantly, the food. A visit to Cafe du Monde for beignets was one of my first priorities while here. You can just see the beignets under that mountain range of icing sugar!

I also visited the New Orleans School of Cooking for a fantastic cooking demonstration. Harriet Robin was our chef and she was so funny and the dishes she prepared were so delicious, this has to be one of my favourite things I did in the US. Harriet cooked gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding and pralines – I just can’t wait to try out these recipes when I eventually get back to Australia! The gumbo I had here was the best dish I had during my time in the US, however gumbo doesn’t make for the prettiest photo so no picture of this dish unfortunately!

Coming soon – Florida, Georgia and South Carolina! I just arrived in London today so I have a huge backlog of US photos and adventures to post in the next couple of weeks.
