When I first visited Berlin (almost 5 years ago!) I took a walking tour on my first day, where my guide was emphatic in his recommendations to see certain places in the city because it was very likely those places wouldn’t be there the next time we visited Berlin. Sadly he was right – when I visited in June of this year Tacheles was long, long gone and YAAM had been uprooted from its original home by developers. So when the friends I was staying with in Berlin suggested a day of urban exploring, I jumped at the opportunity – these relics from Berlin’s recent past may be apartment blocks the next time I get a chance to visit this incredible city.

Here are some photos from Spreepark – an old GDR-era amusement park and Flugzeughallen Karlshorst – a former airplane hangar space. I found Abandoned Berlin and Digital Cosmonaut to be good places to find more info on urban exploring in Berlin.
